About
My life as an Anxious Girly Living Abroad
My name is Emma and I’ve moved abroad on my own more than five times, across different countries, cultures, and systems.
Every single move came with its own mix of excitement, anxiety, and “what am I doing with my life?” moments. I’ve navigated visa processes that made no sense, grocery stores where nothing looked familiar, language barriers that humbled me daily, and bureaucracy that tested both my patience and emotional stability.
Living abroad has taught me that anxiety can coexist with adventure if we manage it with the right tools, support, and a lot of self-compassion. Through trial, error, and many café-con-leche-fueled breakdowns, I learned how to prepare smarter, cope gentler, and build a life abroad without losing myself in the process.
Now, I share everything I wish I’d known so other anxious girlies can feel supported, prepared, and reminded that struggling doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong — it means you’re doing something brave.
Warmly,
Emma 💌
